If you want to copy information from Excel to Word:
1) select the desired part. (by pointing the mouse on it, then left-clicking on the mouse, and then moving the cursor till the whole desired portion is in the "frame").
2) go to "edit" and click "copy", or press "Ctrl C".
3) back to the word document, go to edit and click "paste", or press "Ctrl V".
Copying and pasting from Powerpoint into a Word document
1) select the desired information.
2) click "Ctrl Insert" or ""Ctrl C".
3) back to the word document, press "Shift Insert" or "Ctrl V".
Copying text or URL from a Web page into a Word document
In order to avoid getting also the fonts and formatting from the Web page, follow these steps:
1) highlight the URL/text, click "Edit" and choose "Cut".
2) without moving the cursor, select "Edit", "paste special", and click on "unformatted text".
3) paste it into the word document. You'll paste text with no formatting at all.
Copying text from one Word or WordPerfect document to another
In order to avoid that text you copy from one Word or WordPerfect document to another doesn't match the font, size or color of the destination document, one of the solution is:
1) select the text in the source document and choose "Edit", "Copy" or press "Ctrl C", to copy it like usual.
2) Switch to the destination document, position the cursor where you want the text to appear and select "Edit", "Paste Special".
3) Choose "Unformatted Text" in the Paste Special dialogue box, then click "OK". This will leave the text in the default style of the destination document.
This technique can be used to unformat an entire document.
1) Press "Ctrl A" to select the entire document.
2) Copy and Paste it into a blank document, using the same "Edit", "Paste Special" option.
Quick Tab Options
You can install a tab stop and choose its characteristics in one operation. If the horizontal ruler isn't visible, first choose "View", "Ruler" in Word or WordPerfect.
For Word 97 and 2000: To set a new tab stop and tab options:
1) double-click where you want the tab to be (use the lower portion of the ruler). This displays the Tabs dialog box.
2) Choose an Alignment and a Leader (if desired), adjust the "Tab stop position", and click OK.
For WordPerfect 8 and 9: To set a new tab stop, right-click anywhere in the tab area of the ruler, pick the type of tab you want from the context menu, and click where you want the tab stop to appear.
To modify the settings of an existing tab stop:
1) move the mouse pointer over the tab marker on the ruler and wait to see a box identifying the tab type.
2) in Word 97: double-right-click to display the Tabs dialog box. In Word 2000, double-click with either mouse button.
3) To remove an existing tab, position the mouse pointer over the tab marker on the ruler, then click and drag the marker off the ruler and onto the document window.
For WordPerfect 8 and 9: To modify an existing tab, right-click to set a new tab type as described earlier and then click the tab.
To remove a tab stop, click and drag it off the ruler and onto the document window.
Formatting a frame in Word.
If you have already inserted a frame into Microsoft Word, there is an easy way to edit it or delete it. To do this:
1) Select the frame clicking your mouse on it once.
2) From the Format menu, click Frame. This will open a menu, which gives you some options dealing with your frame.
3) To delete the frame, simply press Delete once the frame is selected.
Changing text alignment as you type.
You can quickly change text alignment while you type by typing one of the following commands:
Ctrl + E Center
Ctrl + L Left
Ctrl + R Right
Ctrl + J Justify
Page breaks
Occasionally it's necessary to start a new section on a new page. This can be done in two ways:
1) Insert, then Page break, from the menu bar.
2) Ctrl/Enter at the insertion point.
Inserting Pictures
To put pictures into your document:
1) Press Insert, then Picture. The dialog box will display a list of pictures.
2) As you scroll through the list, pictures will be displayed in the dialog box. Choose the picture you would like to use, then
press OK.
3) The picture will appear in the document right where your cursor was located.
